With the introduction of the original Mossberg Shockwave, the concept of a compact, non-NFA, shotshell-firing platform for home defense suddenly became a reality. Mossberg expanded options for prepared individuals with the launch of the company's new 590 Shockwave SPX The Mossberg 590 Shockwave SPX builds on the success of the company's original model, thanks to the addition of a Picatinny Rail located on the top of the receiver. This gives users room to mount a number of additional extras, like a laser.
